In addition to sporting a compact footprint in an 8-lead DFN package measuring 2 mm x 2 mm, the A3903 bi-directional dc-motor driver features an input voltage range from 3V to 5.5V and output currents up to 500 mA. The device employs a full-bridge output using source-side linear operation to allow a constant voltage supply across the motor coil. Logic input pins are on board to control motor direction, braking, and standby modes. They also allow optional PWM of the sink drivers. Protection circuitry includes thermal shut down, under-voltage lockout, and crossover protection. Price is $0.45 each/1,000. ALLEGRO MICROSYSTEMS INC., Worchester, MA. (508) 853-5000.
