Addressing the transition PC OEMs are making to the DisplayPort (DP) interface, the PI3PCIE2612-A and PI3PCIE 2612-B graphics switches support monitor connections to either DP or PCI Express Gen2 output ports. The devices provide point-to-point connections between PC chipsets to those of the DP connector or x16 PCIe slot. In a typical 1:2 demux configuration, the devices offer four DP channels or four PCIe lanes, plus an auxiliary channel for training sequence and HPD for connectivity detection. Other features include a bandwidth of 2.5 GHz at -5 dB, crosstalk of –35 dB at 2.5 GHz, channel-to-channel skew of less than 35 ns, bit-to-bit skew of less than 7 ps, and 8 kV of contact ESD protection on the DP path. The PI3PCIE2612-A for ATX motherboards and PI3PCIE 2612-B for BTX formats are available in 5 mm x 11 mm 56-TQFN packages with a 0.5-mm pad pitch. Price for either device is $1.35 each/10,000.
