Tailored to the Sidewinder VIA Eden-based SBC, the DEV-CD-L5 Linux quick-start board support package (BSP) promises to streamline the hardware setup task by eliminating the need for operating system configuration and driver installation. This reportedly allows developers to create applications in a shorter time frame, thereby reducing time to market. Based on the Debian Linux 4.0 (etch/stable) product running Linux kernel 2.6.25-2, the BSP’s bootable CD supports Sidewinder's basic hardware features including Ethernet, audio, video, USB, and serial interfaces. Additionally, an advanced-user package is available containing kernel sources, a custom CONFIG file, and driver patches for users who wish to run a Linux distribution other than Debian. The DEV-CD-L5 BSP is available immediately to qualified applicants for a nominal charge. VERSALOGIC CORP., Eugene, OR. (800) 824-3163.
