Offering 3-W outputs in a package that was previously rated for 2 W, the MEV3 Series of isolated single-output DC-DC converters gives designers potential board space savings of up to 68%. Supplied in an industry-standard SIP package with overall dimensions of 0.774 in. (19.65 mm) x 0.301 in. (7.65 mm) x 0.4 in. (10.15 mm), the MEV3 series is useful for distributed power on control system boards. The fully encapsulated UL 94V-0-rated design uses toroidal magnetics and requires no external heat sinking or components. The MEV3 series has a typical efficiency level of 83% and power density of 1.9 W/cm3. Input voltages are either 5 V or 12 V and single-output voltages are 5 V, 9 V, 12 V or 15 V. All models in the range have a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C at full 3-W load and have the added benefit of 3-kV dc galvanic isolation (1 minute). Prices start at $7.50 each in production quantities with lead times from stock to 10 weeks. MURATA POWER SOLUTIONS, Mansfield, MA. (508) 339-3000 or (800) 233-2765.
