Core Module Speeds Development Of Wireless Multimedia Devices

Debuting as the first wireless-enabled core module based on Freescale’s i.MX51 processor, the ConnectCore Wi-MX51 allegedly is also the industry’s first to offer 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and the first to support the latest Windows CE 6.0 R3. The module enables both wired and Wi-Fi networking for low power embedded applications such as displays within medical devices, digital signage, security/access control devices, point-of-sale equipment, and industrial automation. It is a 32-bit module employing an ARM Cortex-A8 processor offering speeds of 600 MHz and 800 MHz. Other features include 10/100 Mb Ethernet networking and a pre-certified 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless interface. Early access JumpStart development kits will be available shortly for $795. Kits include a development board, Windows CE board support package, and a 7” XVGA LCD. Modules and Digi JumpStart Kits for Windows CE and Linux will be available in the first quarter of 2010.
