Strain Gage Simulators Enhance Popular DAQ Systems

Jan. 25, 2010
DNx-AO-358 simulated strain-gage output boards are available in two models: the DNA version for use with PowerDNA Cubes and the DNR version for rack-mounting in a PowerDNR RACKtangle or HalfRACK chassis
Groomed for use with the company’s Ethernet-based PowerDNA Cube and RACKTangle data-acquisition products, the DNx-AO-358 simulated strain-gage output boards are available in two models: the DNA version for use with PowerDNA Cubes and the DNR version for rack-mounting in a PowerDNR RACKtangle or HalfRACK chassis. Both versions provide eight channels of simulated strain gage output based on signals from real variable resistor bridges that duplicate the behavior of the simulated strain gages. Each version is available in full- or half-/quarter-bridge configurations with 120?, 350?, or 1-k? bridge completion resistances. The boards support dc and ac excitation with a bandwidth of 250 kHz minimum. Output update rate is 0 to 5 kHz and each board includes an ADC for monitoring excitation voltage with an accuracy of ±10 mV. Additionally, the DNx-AO-358 boards include software drivers for Windows, Linux, QNX, VxWorks, RTX, and other popular real-time operating systems. Prices for the DNA-AO-358 and DNR-AO-358 are $4,000 and $4,150 each, respectively. UNITED ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIES INC., Walpole, MA. (508) 921-4600.
