AVX’s new MLO3 series 500- and 250-V dc multilayer organic RF capacitors support frequencies from 1 MHz to above 5 GHz
AVX’s new 500- and 250-V dc multilayer organic RF capacitors support frequencies from 1 MHz to above 5 GHz. The MLO3 series surface-mount capacitors maintain high Q and high self-resonance, while featuring low equivalent-series-resistance (ESR) values at high frequencies. Based on the company’s multilayer low-loss organic technology (MLOT), the polymer-based devices integrate high-conductivity copper interconnects in a multilayer configuration. The caps’ low profile, low ESR, and improved cost and tolerance control are due to their fabrication on large-area substrates with sophisticated laser-direct imaging. Expansion matching to printed-circuit boards boosts reliability. The MLO3 series is rated for 50 to 500 V dc. Capacitance values range from 0.1 to 2.5 pF; capacitance tolerance is ±0.02 pF. Target applications include RF power amplifiers, filter networks and MRI systems.
