In concert with Intel’s launch of the E3800 Atom processor family, Kontron announces support of the 22-nm Silvermont microarchitecture on its COM Express mini and compact computer-on-module boards. The 55- by 84-mm COM Express mini delivers power-saving computer-on-modules with x86 technology. The 95- by 95-mm COM Express compact offers an entry-level compact form-factor model for applications to transition from other small form-factor solutions to COM Express. The company also unveiled extensive design-in service offerings for the board, including new industry-specific system designs and comprehensive support for customer-specific designs on the board and system level. Integrated Intel Gen 7 graphics, which offer a threefold boost in performance, support DirectX 11, OpenGL 3.1, and OpenCL 1.1 for two independent screens. In addition, it’s possible to integrate single-, dual-, and quad-core processors. The SoC can be designed for deployment in the extended temperature range, opening up applications from slim, stationary HMIs to ultra-mobile, robust handheld PCs. The Silvermont architecture also will be offered on Kontron’s SMARC, Pico-ITX, Mini-ITX, and 3U CompactPCI boards.
