Avnet Electronics Marketing offers an extension to the MicroZed family with the release of a Zynq-7000-based single-board computer (SBC) that flips the orientation of the I/O expansion connectors. By building the connectors onto the topside of the board, the SBC can accept daughtercards for custom interfaces, turning it into the main baseboard of a system. Such an approach, combined with a lower-profile RJ45 Ethernet connector, allows the SBC to serve as a compact embedded processing system. It’s offered with either Xilinx’s 7010 or 7020 Zynq-7000 All Programmable system-on-a-chip (SoC). The board integrates 1-Gbyte DDR3 SDRAM and 128-Mbyte QSPI flash. Other features include a Micro SD card interface, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, USB 2.0, UART, and JTAG configuration port. There’s 100 user I/Os (50 per connector) via dual board-to-board connectors, configurable as up to 48 LVDS pairs or 100 single-ended I/O. The SBC will find homes in embedded system-on-modules, embedded vision, test and measurement, motor control, and software-defined radio.
