Designers of first-gen WiMedia and wireless USB devices using ultra wideband (UWB) technology can get a leg up with the UWBTracer protocol analyzer, which incorporates what has become an industry-standard interface for USB protocol analysis. The instrument verifies proper operation and troubleshoots the source of errors in MAC-PHY integration or when testing interoperability of multiple devices. Other capabilities include the ability to capture traffic between MAC and PHY ICs, display either time sequenced or hierarchical views of WiMedia and Wireless USB protocol layers, examine real-time statistics depicting device operation, and pop-up tool tips for more detailed information including packet structure and field usage. Additionally, statistics and reporting functions include the ability to view the number of frame occurrences, error occurrence rates, and signal strength in real time.
