A series of dual-channel dc-dc converters deliver both the positive and negative outputs required in many biasing applications, such as active matrix OLED displays and CCD systems. The LT3582, LT3582-5, and LT3582-12 feature an I2C interface that can dynamically program output voltages, power sequencing, and output voltage ramps, as needed. Or, these parameters can be set in manufacturing and made permanent in non-volatile one-time programmable memory. The LT3582’s positive output voltage can be set between 3.2 V and 12.775 V in 25-mV steps, and its negative output can be set between ?1.2 V and ?13.95 V in 50-mV steps. The LT3582-5 and LT3582-12 are preconfigured with ±5-V and ±12-V outputs, respectively, outputs that are useful in many signal-conditioning applications. The series includes two monolithic converters, one boost and one inverting. The boost converter has an integrated power switch and output disconnect switch, while the inverting converter uses a single-inductor topology with an integrated power switch. Input voltage range is 2.55 V to 5.5 V. Quiescent current is 325 µA, and efficiencies are as high as 88%. The LT3582, LT3582-5, and LT3582-12 come in a 3- by 3-mm QFN package and are available from stock. Pricing starts at $2.25 each for 1000-piece quantities. LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP., Milpitas, CA.
