Adding to the SH-Mobile series application processors, the SH-Mobile3A provides the latest multimedia processing functions common to high-end mobile phones. Media support includes terrestrial digital TV and high-resolution camera modules. The device integrates a next-generation SuperH RISC core with DSP and multiple caches. This architecture delivers 389 MIPS of processing at 216 MHz, yielding a rating up to 1.8 MIPS/MHz. A key multimedia function is the chip’s video processing unit, which provides support for video compression compliant with the H.264 standard for ISDB-T TV services and the MPEG-4 standard for movie and videophone applications. The camera interface supports direct connection to camera modules with resolutions up to 5 Mpixels and supports digital zoom and overlay display capabilities using on-screen display functions and hardware cursor support.
