The latest series of four-channel digital oscilloscopes from Yokogawa includes 1.0- and 1.5-GHz bandwidth models with powerful new acquisition, display, and analysis capabilities. The signalXplorer DL9000 series scopes come in a compact, lightweight package.

The 1-GHz DL9140 and DL9140L offer maximum rates of 2.5 Gsamples/s on four channels or 5 Gsamples/s on two channels. The 1.5-GHz DL9240 and DL9240L have maximum rates of 5 Gsamples/s on four channels or 10 Gsamples/s on two channels. Acquisition memories are 2.5 Mpoints/channel for the DL9140 and DL9240 and 6.25 Mpoints/channel for the DL9140L and DL9240L.

To maintain acquisition speed in multichannel operation, the scopes' analog-to-digital conversion section consists of cascade-type, 2.5-Gsample/s, 8-bit converters that run in parallel and are designed for low power consumption. Therefore, the instruments can capture up to 9000 acquisitions/s (at 12.5 kpoints/acquisition) using four channels.

In the signal-processing section, a highly integrated, proprietary CMOS ASIC called the Advanced Data Stream Engine (ADSE) was implemented in 0.13-µm technology. The ADSE, which includes the acquisition memory, lets users employ as much or as little memory as necessary for a given measurement. For example, they could set a memory length of 2.5 kpoints/acquisition on four channels and capture up to 16,500 acquisitions/s. Or, they could set the memory at 125 kpoints/acquisition and acquire up to 900 acquisitions/s.

Prices start at $10,995 for the 1-GHz scopes and $15,495 for the 1.5-GHz units.
