Supporting the worldwide march towards HD 1080p TV and DTV formats such as H.264, the third generation VCT-Premium family of single-chip, flat-panel TV processors reportedly offers the industry’s highest level of integration. A single-chip solution, the family provides a complete electronics platform for a full HD 1080p TV, integrating audio, video, Teletext, OSD, control functions, memory and program ROM, and a dual-input port HDMI receiver. In addition to standard color space typically used for PAL or NTSC systems, it can accept content with an extended color space (xvYCC) and expands the color formats to work with wide-color-gamut panels. Users can custom-map colors to their display of choice for the best possible color. Other features include advanced algorithms that reduce the digital noise associated with MPEG coding, support for Blu-ray and HD-DVD media, a parametric equalizer for audio, and a choice of QFP or BGA packages.
