Designed with a new transparent chip substrate material, the Ultra-Bright TS series of AlInGaP LEDs reportedly achieves 30% brighter illumination than conventional LEDs. The low-cost LEDs are targeted for use in instruments and outdoor displays required to function in ambient lighting conditions. The new design’s transparent substrate enhances brightness through higher reflective capability, resulting in an intensity of 3,000 mcd versus 2,000 mcd for standard LEDs. The new Ultra-Bright series is available in red and amber colors, in surface-mount and through-hole styles, and in all industry standard packages, including 3 mm and 5 mm. Surface-mount models include PLCC, 1206, 1204, 0805, 0603, and 1210 industry-standard chip packages. Pricing is from under $0.30 each in large quantities.
