FEDs Have Wide Viewing Angle, Claim To Eliminate LCD Problems

Sept. 1, 1998

Claiming to completely eliminate liquid crystal display (LCD) difficulties and problems is a new line of flat panel displays called field emission displays (FEDs). These 1W displays feature equal brightness (50 to 200 fL) and contrast at all viewing angles up to 160°. And the FEDs also feature instant-on at any temperature between -40°C and 85°C and a 20-µs response time, which is said to translate into no-smear images in televisions, sonography, oscilloscopes, and other products.
