Because of their precise chip placement, a family of InGaAs PIN photodiodes in miniature ceramic packages can handle laser diode monitoring assignments in optical communication systems. The G8941 series is designed for the 1310- and 1550-nm wavelength bands. The spectral response range is 900 to 1700 nm. Typical photosensitivity is 0.9 A/W at 1310 nm and 0.95 A/W at 1550 nm. The three devices in the series have different active areas: G8941-01 has an active area of f1 mm, G8941-02 has an active area of f0.5 mm, while G8941-03 has an active area of f0.3 mm. All three have a positioning tolerance with the chip of ±0.075 mm. The package measures 2 mm x 2 mm x 1 mm. HAMAMATSU CORP INC, Bridgewater, NJ. (800) 524-0504.
