Claiming to be the world's first panel-mount programmable logic controller (PLC) with LED display in a DIN 1/16-size package, the FP-e permits applications requiring timers, temperature controllers and PLC to be satisfied with a single unit. The new PLC comes standard with two serial RS-232 ports, six programmable function keys, a 2-line x 5-digit numerical display along with engineering units, eight inputs, and six outputs. Programming memory of 2.7K steps and over 180 easy-to-use instructions are also provided, with the latter including 32-bit integer and floating point math, ASCII string, window compare, PID, auto-tuning, motion control, high speed counter, communication instruction sets, 1-ms timers, and more. The temperature version also has two thermocouple K-type inputs that operate between -30°C and 300°C. Further, the FP-e can control two axes of stepper and servo motors simultaneously. And programming can be done in plain ladder or by a powerful, full-blown IEC61131 programming language, such as Pascal, Sequential Flow Chart and Function block. A real-time clock version is also available. Pricing for FP-e starts at $185. For more details, call Erwin Wu at AROMAT CORP., Automation Control Systems Div., Providence, NJ. (800) 228-2350.
