The uPD9245GJ, described as an application-specific standard product (ASSP), employs the company’s unique single-frame super-resolution technology to reduce the blurring that occurs when low-resolution images are expanded and displayed in high-resolution. It sharpens out-of-focus images, smoothes rough edges, and refines contours by analyzing and processing information contained in one frame of data in real time. Using standard video interfaces for data input and output, users can integrate the ASSP into a wide variety of consumer, industrial, medical, and automotive devices that handle images and video. Additionally, the technology is also available as an IP core that can be embedded into ASICs or other ASSPs. Pertinent features of the uPD9245GJ include a resolution of 60 fps for 1280 x 1024 SXGA resolutions, 60 fps resolution for 1366 x 768 HDTV, JTAG support, 3.3V power supply for I/O and 1.5V for the core, and a typical power consumption of 0.9W at 60 fps for SXGA resolution. Available in a 144-pin LQFP, price is $10 each/1,000. NEC ELECTRONICS AMERICA INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 366-9782.
