Using SMARC to Deploy Arduino Prototype

SECO’s SMARC-Dragonwing-IQ8 streams migration from prototype to production.

Qualcomm Technologies’ Dragonwing IQ8 lies at the heart of the Arduino VENTUNO Q and SECO’s SMARC-Dragonwing-IQ8. The Arduino platform is built to handle prototyping while the SMARC module is designed for production. It can be deployed in rugged and industrial environments. The SMARC 2.1.1 standard module adds 32 GB of LPDDR5/LPDDR5X memory and up to 1 TB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The Dragonwing IQ8 meets AEC-Q100 Grade 3 qualifications. It has eight, 2.35-GHz Qualcomm Kryo Gen 6 cores and four, 1.85-GHz real-time cores. Also in the mix is an 877 MHz Adreno 623 GPU. A Hexagon Tensor neural processing unit (NPU) can deliver up to 40 TOPS for machine learning and artificial-intelligence acceleration.

The platform can address industrial applications with dual 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe Gen4, MIPI-CSI, and CAN-FD.

SECO provides software-development tools including its Clea OS. A custom, Yocto-based Linux operating system offers baseline software for secure lifecycle management, OTA updates, and connected device scalability. Support spans SECO’s x86 and Arm-based platforms.
