PEIC launches new power electronics industry career portal at APEC

March 26, 2019
With a focus on internships and early-state career opportunities, the portal enables applicants to create blind profiles to be matched against employment opportunities
ANAHEIM, CA—The Power Electronics Industry Collaborative (PEIC), an industry consortium whose members include power electronics OEMs, research organizations, educational institutions, and other industry stakeholders working to further its mission to cultivate an ever more diverse, skilled, and innovative workforce, launched a newly-developed online career portal at the 2019 Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC), held in Anaheim, CA, over March 17-21 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The new Power Electronics Industry Career Portal is designed to connect student interns and entry-level workers with prospective employers.

A unique alternative to traditional job posting sites, the PEIC career portal will enable applicants to create blind profiles to be matched against employment opportunities. The innovative process was developed by PEIC’s Diversity & Inclusion Working Group, which is chartered with developing programs to educate and encourage a new generation of highly skilled workers in power electronics, including women and under-represented minorities.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce PEIC’s new career portal at APEC, and encourage attending universities and companies with internship programs to utilize this complimentary service, and consider joining us in our efforts to create a more diverse, skilled, and innovative workforce,” said Nanci Vogtli, president of PEIC.  “Membership provides opportunities for students and recent graduates to participate in PEIC’s working groups to enhance their leadership and collaboration skills which are so essential in today’s workplace.”

“As a young engineer, the opportunities to speak at PEIC sponsored special sessions at industry conferences and participate in the Diversity & Inclusion Working Group have provided me with valuable networking and learning experiences,” said Minyu Cai, Power Electronics Engineer at PEIC member company Cummins, Inc. “As a PEIC member, Cummins sees real value in launching this new career portal to promote a more diversified workforce, which resonates with one of our core values—diversity and inclusion.”

Interested employers and job seekers are invited to visit PEIC’s Power Electronics Industry Career Portal at: https://peic-us.org/career-portal/.

PEIC’s Diversity & Inclusion Working Group is chartered with developing programs to educate and encourage new generations of highly skilled workers, including women and under-represented minorities, to find careers in power electronics. Organizations interested in joining PEIC to help further its vision and advocate for a more diverse and innovative workforce can find more information available in the membership area. All are welcome to participate in the working group meetings; conference call schedules and details can be found at PEIC Events.
