Infineon cements lead in power semis

On the heels of Infineon's recent opening of a new power fab in Kulim, Malaysia, IMS Research analyst says that the company reaffirmed its number one market position in power semiconductors.

On the heels of Infineon's recent opening of a new power fab in Kulim, Malaysia, IMS Research analyst says that the company reaffirmed its number one market position in power semiconductors.

IMS named Infineon as the leader in worldwide sales revenue for power semiconductors. According to findings from the latest study, Infineon's power semiconductor business significantly outperformed the global market as a whole, which expanded by 0.6% to US $11.35 billion. The company achieved a revenue growth of 11.6% in 2005.

IMS indicates that Infineon's sales revenue in this market rose to US $1.06 billion from approximately US $950 million in 2004. In addition, Infineon held a 9.3% share of the total US $11.35 billion market in the year 2005.
