Gen2 Voltage Regulators Set Efficiency Benchmark

Feb. 25, 2010
Gen2.1 SupIRBuck family of voltage regulators handle input voltages from 1.5V to 16V and deliver output voltages from 0.7V to 90% of the input voltage with a peak efficiency greater than 96%

Now in its second generation, the Gen2.1 SupIRBuck family of voltage regulators handle input voltages from 1.5V to 16V and deliver output voltages from 0.7V to 90% of the input voltage with a peak efficiency greater than 96%. Providing up to 12A of output current in 5 mm x 6 mm Power QFN packages, programmable switching frequencies range up to 1.5 MHz. The devices also eliminate the need for traditional dual-stage POL conversion by operating directly from 12V. Additional features include a 1% accurate 0.7V reference voltage, programmable hiccup current limit, programmable soft start, enhanced pre-bias start up, thermal protection, an enable pin with voltage-monitoring capability, sequencing (IR384xW), DDR memory tracking (IR383xW), and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C. Prices range from $1.38 to $2.31 each/1,000. For more information, contact Sian Cummins at INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER, El Segundo, CA. (310) 252-7148.
