Maxim Integrated Products’ MAX15020 high-voltage dc-dc converter is fully specified over the automotive temperature range. The device includes an integrated high-side switch that provides up to 2 A of output current at switching frequencies up to 500 kHz. To save power during non-operation, the device offers a shutdown mode that reduces current consumption to 6 µA.

Operating over a 7.5-V to 40-V input range, the converter reduces the number and size of external components required for a total power system. To maximize flexibility, the MAX15020 allows designers to set the output voltage from 0.5 V to 36 V. The MAX15020 also utilizes a feed-forward voltage-mode architecture to provide good noise immunity in high-voltage switching environments, and it allows external compensation for increased design flexibility. It is available in a thermally enhanced, 5-mm x 5-mm 20-pin TQFN package and priced at $1.47 for 1000 pieces.
