End-to-End Power Solution Engineered for Intel Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake Platforms
The AOZ71049QI, AOZ71149QI and AOZ71146QI represent Alpha and Omega Semiconductor’s (AOS) new family of digital multiphase controllers specifically designed for Intel IMVP9.3 Vcore power delivery. These 4-rail controllers, when paired with AOS’s benchmark DrMOS and Smart Power Stage (SPS) technology, provide a complete power solution for the latest Intel Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake mobile processor architectures.
Digital Tuning, Analog Efficiency
The AOZ71049QI series utilizes the proprietary AOS Advanced Transient Modulation (A2TM) technology, which bridges the gap between digital flexibility and analog efficiency. It combines variable-frequency hysteretic peak-current mode control with advanced phase-current sensing to provide ultra-fast transient response and optimal current balance across both transient and DC loads. A2TM also maintains very low quiescent power consumption across all Intel IMVP 9.3 power states.
Simplified Design and Superior Thermals
To streamline the development cycle, configurations can be programmed directly into the controller’s multi-time programmable (MTP) memory via a user-friendly GUI, eliminating the need for manual solder rework during the tuning phase.
The solution reaches peak performance when paired with the AOZ52986QI SPS. Featuring a compact 3x4 QFN package and a symmetrical pinout, the AOZ52986QI simplifies PCB layout while reducing parasitic inductance by 5%.
Additional features include:
- Provides 45-A continuous output (up to 80 A peak).
- Supports up to 4+2+1+2 phase outputs for Core (IA), Graphics (GT), Auxiliary (SA), and LPCORE domains.
- Autonomous phase shedding and auto-DCM to optimize power loss.
- Supports multi-sourced, industry-standard DrMOS or driver+MOSFET power stages.
- Built-in features to ensure silent operation under varying loads.
- Integrated current (3.5% accuracy) and temperature (2% accuracy) monitoring.

Lee is the author of the popular PowerBites series.
Lee Goldberg is a self-identified “Recovering Engineer,” Maker/Hacker, Green-Tech Maven, Aviator, Gadfly, and Geek Dad. He spent the first 18 years of his career helping design microprocessors, embedded systems, renewable energy applications, and the occasional interplanetary spacecraft. After trading his ‘scope and soldering iron for a keyboard and a second career as a tech journalist, he’s spent the next two decades at several print and online engineering publications.
Lee’s current focus is power electronics, especially the technologies involved with energy efficiency, energy management, and renewable energy. This dovetails with his coverage of sustainable technologies and various environmental and social issues within the engineering community that he began in 1996. Lee also covers 3D printers, open-source hardware, and other Maker/Hacker technologies.
Lee holds a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from Thomas Edison College, and participated in a colloquium on technology, society, and the environment at Goddard College’s Institute for Social Ecology. His book, “Green Electronics/Green Bottom Line - A Commonsense Guide To Environmentally Responsible Engineering and Management,” was published by Newnes Press.
Lee, his wife Catherine, and his daughter Anwyn currently reside in the outskirts of Princeton N.J., where they masquerade as a typical suburban family.
