Associated Research Debuts Electrical Safety Compliance Analyzers

August 16, 2012. Associated Research Inc. has announced the addition of five new models in its OMNIA II line of electrical safety compliance analyzers. Model 8254 is a 4-in-1 electrical safety compliance analyzer that performs AC hipot (500 VA), DC hipot, 40-A ground bond, and insulation resistance testing in a single instrument. Model 8206 is a 6-in-1 electrical safety compliance analyzer that performs AC hipot, DC hipot, 40-A ground bond, insulation resistance, functional run, and line leakage testing in a single instrument. Model 8256 adds 500-VA test functionality to model 8206. Model 8207 is a 7-in-1 electrical safety compliance analyzer that performs AC hipot, DC hipot, 40-A ground bond, insulation resistance, functional run, and line leakage testing while adding a built-in 500-VA AC power source in a single instrument. Model 8257 adds 500 VA test functionality to the model 8207.

OMNIA II features an 800 x 480 Color TFT display. Color-coded test steps clearly indicate pass/fail conditions, and users can also choose from four different color schemes to match their preferences. OMNIA II is also equipped with a “My Menu” interface which allows operators to personalize menu settings and create shortcuts to favorite screens and preferences. In addition, OMNIA II includes Associated Research’s DualCHEK feature, which allows the user to perform simultaneous hipot and ground-bond tests. OMNIA II comes standard with a USB/RS-232 interface. Optional Ethernet, GPIB, data storage, and printer output interfaces are available.

Additional features of the OMNIA II are as follows:

  • Up to 10,000 test steps for multiple programmable memory/step combinations
  • Multiple language settings (English and Chinese)
  • AC/DC hipot Leakage Current Offset
  • Patented SmartGFI high-speed shutdown circuit for operator protection
  • Patented Prompt and Hold function that inserts prompts or instructions as part of the test cycle
  • Patented CAL-ALERT feature that automatically alerts the user when the instrument is due for calibration
  • Patented VERI-CHEK feature that verifies that an instrument's failure detectors are functioning properly
  • Charge-LO circuit that confirms that the DUT is connected when performing a test
  • Ramp-HI feature that allows a user to charge the DUT as rapidly as possible without causing false failures
  • True RMS Current readings

The OMNIA II Models will be available in September 2012. Prices range from $9,995 to $15,695.
