Data-Acquisition Stations

The new GP Series data-acquisition stations incorporate the company’s SMARTDAC+ Smart User Interface, Smart Architecture, and Smart Functionality design principles. GP models include the larger GP20 with a 12.1” touch screen and up to 100-input channel capacity and the smaller GP10 with a 5.7” touch screen and up to 30-input channel capacity. Both are portable benchtop units that share the same performance specifications and standard high-capacity SD flash memory data storage. These units can be used in a range of lab and test applications that require measurement and recording of temperature and other DC sensor input signals at 100-ms sample intervals.

New proprietary resistive touch-screen technology senses two touch points, allowing pinch in/out control for time-scale zoom and swipe control for fast navigation and viewing of data displays. Trend history can be reviewed with a swipe of the display or via a calendar search screen. Users can apply pre-set text messages and directly enter batch and text message information via an on-screen keyboard, an external USB keyboard, or freehand on-screen with a pen stylus. PXI Switching and Control Card

Responding to users’ requests for a switching/control card that can be customized for specific applications, Geotest has introduced the GX6196, a 6U PXI switch and control board that can be used to create custom switching, signal conditioning, or custom control interfaces. All switching and control resources are available via five interboard connectors that interface to the user-defined daughter/mezzanine board. The mezzanine board supports all connections to the UUT via two 78-pin D-sub connectors. By providing access and control to all 96 relays, users have the option to create custom relay configurations, custom switched load board configurations, or custom interface circuitry controlled by the module’s software function calls. The GX6196 is supplied with a software package that includes a virtual-instrument panel and Windows 32-/64-bit driver libraries for ATEasy, LabVIEW, C/C++, Microsoft Visual Basic, Linux 32/64, Delphi, and Pascal. $3,409. EMI Test Receiver

The new R&S ESRP handles diagnostic and precompliance measurements in the frequency range from 10 Hz to 7 GHz. The company said the R&S ESRP is a fast EMI test receiver with standard-compliant bandwidths and detectors as well as a full-featured spectrum analyzer. The receiver offers two methods for measuring disturbance signals: the fast, FFT-based time-domain scan and the traditional—but slower—stepped frequency scan. Both methods comply with the CISPR 16-1-1 standard for EMC measurements. In the time-domain scan mode, the R&S ESRP measures conducted disturbances in the CISPR band B with quasi-peak weighting faster, by orders of magnitude, than conventional EMI test receivers using the traditional method.

The R&S ESRP allows manufacturers of modules, boards, instruments, and systems to detect and eliminate EMC problems early in development. The receiver measures conducted and radiated EMI. The preselection option protects the front end against overloading and delivers reproducible measurement results. Rohde & Schwarz

Entry-Level Boundary-Scan Bundle

PicoTAP Designer Studio is a boundary-scan test system including hardware and software and offering a favorable price-performance ratio. In addition to a mixed-signal I/O module, the bundle contains what the vendor calls the world’s smallest boundary-scan controller, PicoTAP, which is powered via USB and can be plugged directly into the I/O module. The hardware/software bundle contains a PicoTAP controller, an FXT-96/A CION module, and a SYSTEM CASCON Basic/SX development station. Because of the included CION I/O module, analog and digital peripheral ports also can be tested. Additionally, relays and optical I/O functions are available to flexibly optimize test coverage.

The bundle’s performance level can be extended from pure test (base version) to additional applications such as memory and cluster test or in-system programming of small flash memories and PLDs. Numerous hardware and software options are available so that the test unit’s performance may grow with the application. From $5,000 for the base version. GOEPEL electronic

Test Module for 100G Field Deployment

The FTB-88100NGE Power Blazer multiservice test module addresses 40G/100G Ethernet field deployments. The instrument is optimized for field testing with its easy-to-use GUI. It delivers flexibility with its remote management capability, battery operation, and integrated optical tools. Carriers can combine the FTB-88100NGE with EXFO’s optical modules, such as an optical spectrum analyzer, making it suitable for field commissioning and turn-up. Furthermore, the FTB-88100NGE is compatible with EXFO Connect so users can benefit from the vendor’s cloud-based services, including centralized management of test units and data. EXFO

PIM Tester

The PIM S1L Series analyzers are designed to meet the requirements of laboratory and quality assurance applications and offered in the 700-, 850-, 900-, 1,800-, 1,900-, 2,000-, 2,100-, and 2,600-MHz mobile-communications bands. Other bands and customized frequency combinations also are available on request. PIM S1L features an adjustable RF signal power range of 15 dBm to 44 dBm (higher power levels are available). It also has a soft power-up function, which ramps measurement power-up slowly. This feature is particularly helpful to avoid strong reflections when measuring antennas. The analyzer provides a receiver sensitivity of -172 dBc, a measurement carrier accuracy of ±0.35 dB, and a noise floor as low as -138 dBm (at 300-Hz bandwidth).

In addition to third-order intermodulation products, higher order IM products also can cause interference and distortion in receiving bands. The PIM S1L analyzers measure and display up to four intermodulation products simultaneously. AWT Global

1.5- to 4-kW DC Supplies

The SL Series 1U (1.75” high) programmable DC power supplies include models ranging from 1.5 kW to 4 kW, all in a 1U rack-mount package. The new SL Series is released with 54 models, with voltage ratings ranging from 5 VDC to 1,000 VDC and current ratings ranging from 1.5 ADC to 250 ADC. With extensive interfaces and controls, the new series satisfies the requirements for a range of applications, including ATE, automotive and hybrid/electric development, semiconductor burn-in, and battery charging.

All SL Series models come standard with front-panel control, external 37-pin isolated analog and digital I/O, and an RS-232 interface. For computer communications, remote interface software is provided along with Magna-Power Electronics’ IVI driver, enabling programming from a variety of environments including NI LabVIEW and Visual Studio. Load-dependent variable-speed fans also are standard on all models. Available options include an LXI TCP/IP Ethernet interface, an IEEE 488 GPIB Interface, a USB Edgeport interface, and a high slew rate output capability for fast output transitions. Master/slave operation will be available with the UID47 device, enabling multiple units to be tied in series or parallel. Magna-Power Electronics

Synchronized Hipot Tester

The 19020 Series multichannel hipot tester employs a new architecture that enables it to measure hipot leakage current of all channels at the same time and conduct tests on a maximum of 100 DUTs simultaneously, increasing regulatory test efficiency and productivity. The 19020 incorporates a synchronous hipot test function that allows one single unit to perform 10 channels of sync output and measurement at the same time. A maximum of 10 units can be controlled for 100 channels in total. They can be grouped for output to avoid creating voltage differences. The 19020 synchronizes the output signal, removing risk of high-voltage differences on adjacent DUTs and minimizing any occurrence of error in the test. Taking 5-kVAC output voltage as an example, when the output of a hipot tester is not synchronized, two nearby DUTs may experience a voltage difference of up to 14 kV peak-to-peak, causing damage to the fixture and erroneous test results.
