June 27, 2013. Agilent Technologies has introduced the U5303A, a compact dual-channel PCIe digitizer with 12-bit resolution, sampling up to 3.2 GS/s, and on-board real-time processing. It delivers high analog fidelity, high effective number of bits, and very low noise.

The new digitizer offers DC- to 1.8-GHz bandwidth, 9.1 ENOB at 100 MHz, 58-dB signal-to-noise ratio, and high data-transfer rates from an eight-lane PCIe 2.0 interface. The U5303A can be used in systems in commercial, industrial, aerospace, and defense applications. Uses include medical imaging, environmental monitoring, analytical time-of-flight, ultrasonic nondestructive testing, and radar.

The versatile U5303A gives users the ability to integrate advanced real-time signal processing within the embedded Xilinx Virtex-6 field-programmable gate array. This is made possible by the Agilent FPGA development kit for high-speed digitizers. This software kit provides interfaces that leverage the full density and speed of the FPGA while ensuring the digitizer’s level of performance at multi-gigasamples per second.

Didier Lavanchy, operation manager for Agilent’s high-speed digitizers, said the instrument's development leverages innovations that were first introduced in the company's 12-bit AXIe digitizer.

The U5303A PCIe high-speed digitizer extends Agilent’s portfolio of PCIe-based products and high-speed digitizer cards, which also includes solutions in the AXIe and PXIe formats. To ease integration of the module into a PC, the U5303A also includes a comprehensive set of drivers.
