Anritsu supports emergency alert and public warning test

Anritsu has announced that its MD8475A signaling tester with SmartStudio Manager Windows-based control software now provides multi-operator support for Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) Carrier Acceptance Test (CAT) packages. With the capability, the MD8475A is a comprehensive solution for analyzing CMAS, providing device manufacturers with the necessary CAT test capability to verify that their wireless devices are correctly receiving emergency cell broadcast messages and properly alerting users based on the messages’ contents and severity.

Three separate CAT packages are available, allowing the MD8475A platform to specifically address the ecosystems of leading North American carriers. The test packages include 2G, 3G, and LTE radio technology support. With the packages and SmartStudio Manager, CMAS messages can be sent at any time simply by selecting created/edited messages. By simulating a real-world network environment, the MD8475A establishes a simple, cost-efficient, and accurate process for validating UE performance.

“Mobile operators are using CMAS to provide geographically-targeted public safety messages to customers. The MD8475A is a small footprint, cost-effective network connectivity and performance simulator that enables efficient, accurate, and repeatable device testing. The MD8475A, along with the integrated SmartStudio Manager, allows mobile device manufacturers to quickly verify proper device operation, lowering the test cost and speeding time to market,” said Bob Kersey, marketing director of wireless testing solutions for Anritsu.

The MD8475A signaling tester is a complete network-in-a-box, simulating the radio access as well as the core network and server functions, and supports the full range of communications standards. The MX847503A SmartStudio Manager software offers an easy-to-use test environment on a PC operating Windows and allows simultaneous execution of multiple test cases and at-a-glance display of test results. It eliminates the need to create complex test scripts, assuring efficient and simpler mobile testing.

The MD8475A and SmartStudio Manager combine to provide engineers involved with each carrier’s ecosystem with a cost-effective platform for CMAS and other application tests. LTE, LTE-Advanced, W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA Evolution/DC-HSDPA, GSM/EGPRS, CDMA2000 1X/1xEV-DO Rev. A, and TD-SCDMA/TD-HSPA are supported by the MD8475A.
