Medical external supplies have class II input and level VI efficiency

Feb. 13, 2016

TDK Corp. has announced the introduction of the TDK-Lambda medically certified DTM65-C8 external power supplies. This series offers a class II input (and thus does not require an earth ground connection) and meets the stringent level VI DoE standards for efficiency. The DTM65-C8 is also is certified to the IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-11 medical standards, making it suitable for a variety of hospital and healthcare applications, including diagnostic and monitoring equipment.

The DTM65-C8 is housed in a rugged, vent-free IP21-rated enclosure, measuring 106 x 60 x 31 mm. AC is applied using a standard IEC60320-C8 cable, and DC provided through a four-pin Power-DIN connector. Other connectors are available upon request. The adapters also feature over-voltage and over-current protection.

Accepting a 90- to 264-VAC input, the 40- to 65-W adapters are available with 5-V, 12-V, 15-V, 19-V, 24-V, 28-V, and 48-V outputs and can operate in ambient temperatures ranging from 0 to +60oC (with derating). In addition to satisfying DoE requirements with an average efficiency of greater than 88% (12-V models or higher), the power supplies have an off-load power draw of less than 0.21 W.

The DTM65-C8 also has been certified to ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1, CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1-08, and EN 60601-1, and it carries the CE mark. All models meet EN 55011-B, FCC Class B conducted and radiated emissions and EN 60601-1-2 immunity standards.
