Pacific Power debuts AFX Series programmable AC and DC sources

April 4, 2016

Irvine, CA. Pacific Power Source today announced the release of its all new AFX Series programmable AC, DC, and AC+DC power-source family. AFX models are available in power levels ranging from 9 kVA to 60 kVA. All models are based on a proprietary, all-digital, power-conversion technology platform that supports a set of formerly unavailable features and capabilities used in programmable power sources. This includes a direct-coupled output that allows for AC output, DC output, or AC+DC combined output modes.

All AFX models feature active power-corrected AC inputs with a wide input-voltage range that may be deployed anywhere in the world. Voltage, waveform, current, power, phase, and frequency are all programmable, and 99 nonvolatile setups can be stored for quick recall as part of a test protocol, reducing remote-control overhead.

Other features and capabilities include a 15-Hz to 1,200-Hz frequency range, a single 300-VRMS constant-power-mode voltage range, programmable RMS or DC and peak current limit functions, and compatibility with Pacific Power’s UPC Studio Windows control software. All this capability is easily controlled by the user through an intuitive front panel with a large full-color LCD. For ATE applications, the AFX offers a LAN interface with LXI compliance and IVI instrument drivers.

The new all-digital design allows a 15-kVA AFX unit to occupy no more than 4U of rack space, making it suited to upgrade legacy power test cabinets where additional power is required without consuming the additional space demanded by conventional AC power sources.

Pacific Power’s national sales manager, Eric Lord, said, “This new, incredibly compact yet cost-effective AFX Series provides an economical solution for our customers seeking to upgrade their power test equipment without compromising on performance or quality.” He continuoued, “The AFX power sources offer a broad range of features and full programmability for both bench use and for ATE applications.”

AFX models will be available for deliveries starting in July.
