CEVA, Keysight demonstrate PentaG 5G NR IP platform at MWC

Feb. 24, 2018

Mountain View, CA, and Santa Rosa, CA. CEVA Inc., a licensor of signal-processing platforms and artificial-intelligence processors for connected devices, and Keysight Technologies Inc. have announced a joint technology demonstration February 26 to March 1 at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. The demonstration includes CEVA’s new PentaG 5G New Radio (NR) IP platform for enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and Keysight’s Signal Studio to generate 5G NR downlink signals with varying MIMO channel impairments.

CEVA’s PentaG performs the 5G NR CSI (Channel State Information), which is the most critical 5G NR receiver task to maximize UE received data throughput in multi-user, massive MIMO systems using advanced MLD decoders. CEVA’s 5G NR CSI showcases the efficiency of its AI Processor, which uses novel machine-learning techniques to maximize data throughput.

“Keysight is committed to helping 5G technology leaders like CEVA illustrate the full potential of their product designs with our comprehensive 5G NR signal-generation and analysis software tools,” said Will Sitch, director of Industry and solutions marketing at Keysight Technologies. “Mobile World Congress provides a great opportunity to showcase our 5G signal generator and analyzer software with the PentaG for customers.”

“We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with Keysight and be able to demonstrate the real-world performance capabilities of our PentaG 5G NR platform,” said Michael Boukaya, vice president and general manager of the wireless business unit at CEVA. “Keysight’s Signal Studio and vector signal analyzer create the perfect test environment for our platform and offer our PentaG customers a compelling solution to accelerate their 5G product design and validation.”

PentaG is a comprehensive 5G intellectual property (IP) platform for enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB). Compliant to the 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) Release-15 and software upgradable for Release-16, PentaG is targeted at smartphones, fixed wireless access, and the many other embedded devices that can take advantage of multigigabit data rates to enable services and use cases such as 4K video streaming, augmented reality, virtual reality, autonomous driving, and home broadband. PentaG supports the gamut of 5G eMBB use cases, including standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA), mmWave, and sub-6 GHz and is also backward-compatible with LTE and LTE-A Pro. The platform sustains a bit rate of up to 10 Gb/s and offers a scalable architecture to support most advanced wireless technologies like massive MIMO, beamforming, and complex link adaptation schemes.
