Molex Introduces EdgeLock wire-to-signal-card connector

June 28, 2018

Lisle, IL. Molex announced it has introduced the EdgeLock wire-to-signal-card connector, which ensures a direct and secure mating to the PCB Edge-Card. The 2.00-mm-pitch edge-lock connector saves space and reduces assembly time, the company reports.

“The consumer electronics and appliance industries want a secure connector system, and the EdgeLock meets that need,” said MyungGyu Kim, product manager, Molex. “The EdgeLock connector replaces the typical soldered header and offers a secure connection that also saves space with a centered positive lock.”

The EdgeLock wire-to-signal-card connector lowers assembly cost by eliminating the need for a mating header assembly. The polarization rib on the connector housing prevents mis-mating to the printed circuit boards (PCB). It also supports the 3.0-A max current. The dual cantilever crimp terminal design with embossed contact points offers greater normal force for long-term electrical reliability.

Reworking a system also is easy, as the EdgeLock system features a latch that allows the assembly to be quickly removed from the PCB. The PA46 resin material is low-halogen, making it suitable for high-temperature environments and applications.
