Test Application Accelerates 3G Mobile Phone Development

The combination of the E1963A W-CDMA mobile test application and the 8960 Series 10 (E5515) wireless communications test set is said to provide the communications industry with its first means for testing all Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) radio formats. The combination allows designers to test formats that include GSM, GPRS, and W-CDMA with a single instrument.The application includes a base-station simulator and a parametric tester. Its architecture demodulates the uplink at a rate that is said to return transmitter measurements in a fraction of a second. In addition to all 3GPP formats, the test set also supports CDMA2000, IS-95, IS-136, and AMPS wireless standards. The application is priced at $13,500 and the 8960 Series 10 is priced at $42,500.
