Touted as the industry's first commercial General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) tester designed specifically for high-volume manufacturers of mobile phones, the one-box instrument makes use of test modes, such as ETSI test modes, that enable GPRS calls without fully implementing GPRS protocols—the GPRS standard increases data rates for wireless GSM networks and establishes a path to even high data rates for 3G wireless communications.
The tester uses the GPRS Mobile Test Application to provide essential GPRS call processing functions and GPRS measurements. And the unit supplies all key measurements required for GPRS testing and is based on the high-performance 8960 Series 10 test set. The GPRS Mobile Test Application will be delivered in two phases and priced at $7,000. The 8960 Series 10 Wireless Communications Test Set costs $42,500.
