Offered as a single-instrument capable of generating both RF and microwave signals, the MG3690A synthesizer has a frequency range from 0.1 Hz to 40 GHz with what is said to be crystal-oscillator like phase noise. The instrument provides a frequency resolution of 0.1 Hz over the full frequency range with leveled output power adjustable in 0.01 dB steps from -120 dBm to +17 dBm. An integrated digital downconverter generates 10 MHz to 2,2 GHz single sideband (SSB) phase noise. The SSB phase noise is -107 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz, offset from a 6 GHz carrier. In addition, what is said to be the first COM-based virtual instrument (VI) driver for signal generators is incorporated in the unit. Price is $17,950. ANRITSU CORP., Richardson, TX. (800) 267-4878.
