Designing Bluetooth-enabled products has never been easier, thanks to the many semiconductor companies offering complete chip sets and reference designs. Even non-RF engineers can do the job. What's tough is testing the product during design and ensuring it meets the Bluetooth SIGs specifications for full qualification.

Fortunately, IFR Systems' 2026B with Bluetooth Option 117 makes the testing process both faster and easier. This programmable multisource signal generator has a range of 10 kHz to 2.51 GHz. It can simultaneously generate three modulated RF signals and provide them individually or combined into a single output. Option 116 adds multiple GSM sources for testing cell phones.

Option 117 offers two Bluetooth sources and one GSM source. The Bluetooth generators can use either external baseband inputs, or optionally, the built-in pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS) source. With this, the generator is ideal for relevant blocking, selectivity, and intermodulation tests.

The three-source generator with Option 117 is available within six weeks for $30,595. A two-source version is available for $20,540.
