A new 1-Gbps data module operating inside the standard Vanguard digital IC validation system provides up to 1-Gbps I/O data on eight pins. Each pin has separate input and output connections to the device under test to support fly-by operation, allowing the system to exercise I/O buses with no dead time for bus turnaround. The 1-Gbit data module can co-exist with the 500-MHz data modules. Vanguard systems provide up to 512 pins, with per-pin timing at 500 Mbps on each pin for verification, debug, characterization and analysis of complex digital ICs.
