Test & Measurement: AWG Outputs Fast, High-Resolution Signals For Wideband Testing

With a 1.25-Gsample/s output at 10 bits of vertical resolution, the N6031A arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) is well suited for testing emerging wideband systems, like ultra-wideband (UWB); multiple-input, multiple-output radios; and advanced DSL. The AWG lets designers quickly create realistic othogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) UWB signals that comply with the Multiband OFDM Alliance proposal. The instrument's error vector magnitude is less than 3%. Also, a new baseband correction feature automatically corrects distortions to a linearity of ±150 ps rms across 1 GHz of I/Q bandwidth. An enhanced sequency capability requires that only the unique portions of the waveform need to be saved in memory. Once saved, loops and repeats define how waveforms are played out of the generator. The generators feature a four-slot 3U CompactPCI format that can be used standalone or as scalable system components. Pricing of the N6031A arbitrary waveform generator starts at $30,000.
