At home in the lab or out in the field, the TIA-950i is a compact optical oscilloscope probe that mounts directly on the BNC input of an oscilloscope. Upon energizing the unit, the device reproduces the optical signal presented to it onto the oscilloscope screen. Applications include a quick check of the output of a fiber-optic communications or data link, the operation of a laser source, and the signal from an optical transmitter. The unit transforms the oscilloscope into an optical test instrument. It detects wavelengths from 900 to 1700 nm, has a gain selection switch and provides a peak response value of approximately 1200 to 12,000V/W. Bandwidth is up to 1 GHz in the lower gain setting and 500 MHz in the high gain setting.
