Offered as a cdma2000, wireless Internet protocol (IP) test solution, the MX880121A-02 software option works in conjunction with the 1xRTT version of the MT8801C radio communication analyzer. The software promises to eliminate the need for 1xRTT over-the-air or basestation access. With the software, the MT8801C functions as a link layer for connecting 1xRTT wireless Internet devices to an external application server or to the Internet via an external server. The application supports Service Option 33 (SO33) and Radio Link Protocol (RLP) 3 and can also report RLP statistics. Further, a modem emulation mode allows the MT8801C to function as a modem under Windows 2000 to establish a remote access service, point-to-point-protocol (PPP) connection between a mobile station and an application server. The software option is priced at $5,000. ANRITSU CORP., Richardson, TX. (800) 267-4878.
