Suitable for electromagnetic environment analysis and other field applications, the U3741 3-GHz spectrum analyzer is described as a low-cost instrument that is smaller and lighter than similar units in its category. Measuring frequencies from 9 kHz to 3 GHz, the analyzer specifies an overall accuracy of ±0.8 dB at 1 GHz. It can also measure transmission power for wireless-device performance evaluation. A removable external battery allows for two hours of continuous operation. In a standard configuration, the instrument includes every interface currently in use. Other features include a resolution bandwidth from 100 Hz to 1 MHz, signal purity of -85 dBc/Hz at a 10-kHz offset, an overall level of accuracy of ±1 dB from 9 kHz to 10 MHz, and a maximum input level of +30 dBm. Options include a 75Ω impedance entry and tracking generator. ADVANTEST AMERICA MEASURING SOLUTIONS, Edison, NJ. (866) 414-0870.
