The ES6520, described as a flexible, high-performance service diagnostics interface functioning between a control PC and vehicle ECU networks, provides a modular platform for advanced vehicle diagnostics and ECU reprogramming. It has the ability to support all vehicle interface protocols and communicate with more than one ECU at a time. Based on Modular Vehicle Communication Interface technology, the instrument communicates with a PC via USB and Ethernet wired or wireless interfaces. Communication with the ECUs is through the vehicle’s diagnostic connector. The service connector on the ES6520 supports all vehicle pin-outs in current use and provides expansion capability for future protocols. Reportedly, the ES6520 is the first such tool on the market to support both the J2534 and Diagnostic Protocol Data Unit interfaces. Other features include a microprocessor, internal memory, power supply with battery back up, Linux firmware, and a MMC/SD card slot. ETAS INC., Ann Arbor, MI. (734) 302-2038. (888) 382-7462.
