This new family of products for testing fiber-optic networks consists of the NetTek analyzer plus nine handheld optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) modules and an optical power meter module. The OTDR modules are designed to address testing of long-haul (300 km and up) fiber installations, as well as short- and mid-range fiber optic networks. The modules are claimed to set performance benchmarks in their class. The NetTek analyzer, the control and display platform that houses the new modules, can simultaneously hold up to four OTDR modules plus the optical power meter. Virtually every prevailing mode, wavelength, fiber optic network and both in-band and out-of-band measurements are said to be addressed by the OTDRs. Pricing for the OTDR modules starts at $5,900; the optical power meter card starts at $1,250; and NetTek costs $4,500. Delivery is 20 weeks after receipt of order.
