Double-Pulse Tester and Analyzer Measures WBG Power Modules

May 31, 2023
Keysight's solution measures wide-bandgap power semiconductor dynamic characteristics for discrete devices and power modules, including characteristics like turn-on, turn-off, switching, reverse recovery, and gate charge.

The PD1550A from Keysight Technologies performs measurements of wide-bandgap semiconductor power modules, ensuring repeatable, reliable double-pulse test (DPT) results for the dynamic characterization of wide-bandgap (WBG) power modules.

Features include probe compensation, offset adjustment, de-skewing, and common-mode noise rejection, with an innovative measurement topology and layout. A semi-automated calibration routine, which corrects for system gain and offset errors, was specifically developed for this system, along with de-embedding techniques to compensate for inductive parasitics in the current shunt.

True Pulse Isolate Probe technology enables accurate high-side Vgs measurements, and solderless contact technology allows for measurements without soldering large contact pads.
