Digitiser, Jitter Toolkit Boost Scope Flexibility

Feb. 19, 2013
National Instruments’ 5Gsample/s PXIe-5162 digitiser, featuring 10 bits of vertical resolution, generates high-speed measurements at four times the vertical resolution of a traditional 8-bit oscilloscope.

National Instruments’ 5Gsample/s PXIe-5162 digitiser, featuring 10 bits of vertical resolution, generates high-speed measurements at four times the vertical resolution of a traditional 8-bit oscilloscope. With 1.5GHz of bandwidth and four channels in a single slot, the PXIe-5162 suits high-channel-count digitiser systems in manufacturing test, research, and device characterisation. The digitiser can be used with the updated LabVIEW Jitter Analysis Toolkit, which provides a library of functions optimised for performing high-throughput jitter, eye-diagram, and phase-noise measurements. The Toolkit also offers example programs for eye-diagram and mask testing, and random and deterministic jitter (RJ/DJ) separation using both dual-Dirac and spectrum-based separation methods. By pairing the four-channel digitiser with the PXI platform, one is able to build a tightly synchronised oscilloscope with up to 68 channels in a single chassis.
