More than 80 Percent of the Products in Jameco's Latest Catalog Available in RoHS-Compliant Versions

Company Will Continue to Supply Non-Compliant Products

Belmont, CA (March 31, 2006) – More than 80 percent of the products in the latest Jameco Electronics catalog are now available in RoHS versions for customers shipping to the European Union.

The RoHS-compliant products are conveniently identified by part number throughout the catalog and website at www.jameco.com. "At the same time, we will continue to supply non-compliant products to meet market demands," said Ray Bellantoni, Jameco's Director of Direct Marketing.

RoHS compliance indicates that the identified products comply with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (2002/95/EC). That directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.

The RoHS directive, which the European Union adopted in February 2003, will take effect this July. Additional legislation in China, Japan and California is broadening the scope of the RoHS directive and appears to be making it a worldwide compliance issue for the future, according to Bellantoni.

The RoHS products, like all Jameco products, are backed by the company's low-price guarantee. If customers ever find a print-advertised price that's lower than an identical item in Jameco's catalog, Jameco will not only match that price, but will beat it by an additional 10 percent, right down to the company's cost.
