Consumer Electronics Meet Home Healthcare

Jan. 8, 2007
I'll be brightening up my Monday afternoon with what promises to be an interesting look at technologies expanding the definition of "house calls."

Location: LVCC, North Hall, Room N264

With digital reminders to take your pills and direct transmission of your medical status to your family practitioner via the Web, home healthcare is making leaps and bounds toward allowing consumers to keep track of their health and treatments, all without requiring the patient to set foot outside the house. The Continua Health Alliance and its member companies — like Samsung, Panasonic, Motorla, Philips, GE Healthcare, Polar, and Intel — are making this possible, and they discuss the details at "The Future of Consumer Electronics: Convergence with Home Health" at 1:30 P.M.

Panelists include: Doug Busch, CTO, Digital Health Group, Intel Corporation; Gary Feather, Director, Digital AV Systems, Sharp Laboratories of America; William Lalinde, M.B.A., H.S.A., Business Manager, MOTOHEALTH, iDEN Sector, Global Mobile Devices Business, Motorola, Inc.; Jeff Perry, Business Manager, ConnectedCare — Motiva, Philips Consumer Healthcare Solutions; and Dave Watson, CIO, Kaiser Permanente. The session will be moderated by Charles S. Golvin, Principal Analyst, Forrester Research.
