5-Wire Touch-Screen Controller Loaded Onto Single Chip

Touted as the industry's only complete, single-chip, 12-bit A/D converter available for 5-wire resistive touch-screen applications, the ADS7845 includes all of the interface features required for the touch-screens, including drivers. The device is well-suited for battery-operated and portable applications, such as PDA calculators, touch-screen monitors, and touch-screen white boards. In these touch-screen applications, the chip measures a change in resistance as the screen is touched. The resistive change is then used to determine the exact location of contact upon the touch-screen device. In addition to simplifying circuit complexity, the controller reduces error and provides higher resolution, thus enhancing touch-screen reading accuracy.
