A new standard chassis has been designed to meet the strict space limitations of the ARINC-404A envelope used in most avionics applications. The RCOM05-ATR-6V chassis is cooled by convection or via a base cold plate. Maximum temperature range is from –40°C to +71°C. The chassis houses a five-slot 6U VME64X backplane accommodating up to five top-loaded, conduction-cooled 6U VME boards, including power supply, and a 300W, 28 Vdc plug-in power supply compliant with MIL-STD-704D and MIL-STD-461C. Removable surfaces are designed with environmental/EMI gasketing. The 1/2 ATR lightweight aluminum chassis is sealed, creating a dry air environment with all boards, including the power supply, which is secured with wedge locks to enhance resistance against shock and vibration. Pricing starts at $18,500 for the chassis when purchased as part of an integrated system. SBS TECHNOLOGIES INC., Albuquerque, NM. (505) 875-0600.
